Playing it, step by step

Harvest Simulator puts you in the cab of a farm machine. The task is simple to say and takes a little practice to do well: drive the tractor or combine harvester over a field, bring in the crop, and collect what the harvest earns. Poki lists sunflowers and wheat among the crops, and it tags the game with farming, driving, tractor, 3D and idle.

The earnings are not the end of the loop. They are spent on upgrading the machinery, which is the game's way of letting you do more with each pass over a field. Think of it as a cycle in three steps: drive and harvest, collect the income, then improve the machine before the next field.

Steering is done from the keyboard on a computer. W or the Up arrow drives forward, S or the Down arrow reverses, and A and D (or the Left and Right arrows) turn. The E key changes the camera view. Menu buttons and upgrades are handled with the mouse. On a phone or tablet the same actions are available by touch, since Poki lists all three device types as supported.

Hints that help

  • Spend the first few minutes learning how wide the machine turns. Wide turns at the end of a row are where most of the wasted driving happens.
  • Use the E key to switch the camera when a field edge or a fence is hard to judge. A different angle often makes the next turn obvious.
  • Reverse (S or Down) is there for tight spots. A short back-up is usually faster than a long loop around.
  • Upgrade the machinery when you can afford it instead of saving for a long time. The game ties progress to the equipment, so a better machine is what moves you forward.
  • Work the field in neat parallel lines. Leaving gaps means a second pass later, which costs more time than an extra careful turn now.

A good match if

Players who enjoy calm, repetitive-but-satisfying work, fans of driving and farm machines, and anyone who wants a game they can leave and return to without a story to follow.

Honest minuses

  • Poki shows ads around its games, so there may be a short break before the game loads or between sessions.
  • The loop of harvesting and upgrading is repetitive by design. If you want story, surprises or a competitive element, it may feel slow.
  • Keyboard steering takes a few minutes to get used to, and touch controls can feel less precise in tight turns.
